Easiest approach is up Piddle Valley Road (B3142) to Buckland Newton. In Buckland Newton you will pass the village shop on your right and then the village hall and school on your left. At the village hall there is a very small cross roads. Turn right here signposted Mappowder and Brockhampton.* Proceed slowly up the lane for about half a mile and take the first 'No through road' turning to the left opposite a small cream cottage. Rew Cottage is clearly signposted and is the first cottage on your left. Go up a small steep drive and there is a large yard at the top with more than adequate parking. The front door is approached by steps or a path.
If approaching from the North through Kings Stag and Pulham, bear left into Buckland Newton having houses/bungalows on your left and the fields followed by the village cricket ground on your right. Before you get to the village school turn left at the small crossroads signposted Mappowder and Brockhampton and follow directions as from * in previous paragraph.
If approaching from the North from Sherborne, take the A352 south from Sherborne. Go through Longburton and ignore the first sign you see to Buckland Newton. In Middlemarsh bear left passing a small new industrial estate on your left. This road has NO NUMBER. After about two miles and coming to the top of a steep hill turn left for Buckland Newton. After about half a mile the lane goes down a steep hill and round a right hand bend. You will then pass a farm yard on your left, turn right here (a dangerous turning), follw this lane for a few yards and take the first turning left, leaving the church on your right. Go on trickling down the slight hill for about half a mile until you come to the village cricket ground on your left and the village school on your right. At this cross roads go straight over the B3142 signposted Mappowder and Brockhampton. From this point follow the directions from the first paragraph *.
