West Dorset tourism businesses are making their own contribution to sustainability by participating in the Green Tourism Business Scheme. This is a national scheme to promote the best environmental practice within the tourism sector.

The Heights Hotel, Portland - Silver award
Morven House, Weymouth - Silver award
Oaklands, Weymouth - Silver award
Swallows, Frampton - Silver award
Cardsmill Farmhouse, nr Bridport - Bronze award
Gore Cottage, nr Bridport - Bronze award
Businesses are awarded a bronze, silver or gold grading based on many criteria, including energy, water and waste management. By agreeing to the GTBS code of conduct members are making a commitment towards reducing the impact of their business on the environment.
West Dorset District Council is committed to supporting its members to particpate in the Green Tourism Business Scheme.
David Bellamy Conservation Award
These awards are made each year to Holiday Parks which can demonstrate policies showing active convern for the environment. Three levels of excellence can be achieved: Gold, Silver and Bronze. For further information please visit the David Bellamy website. David Bellamy award winners include:
