Home > What's On in West Dorset > The International Napoleonic Weekend
The International Napoleonic Weekend will bring together Living History Re-enactors, Musicians, Dancers, and Costumiers to create a fantastic Family day out at this historic house and gardens.
There will be an authentic Living History encampment with soldiers from Napoleon's Army and the Duke of Wellington's Army bringing to life the 200th anniversary of the year 1809. Muskets, Cannons and men will reconstruct a battle re-enactment from the times of the Penninsular War.
We are also bringing to the Event the more genteel side of life, with Music, Dancing and Games from the Regency Period, as seen through the eyes of Jane Austen, with wonderful demonstrations and dresses.
In 2009, the International Napoleonic Fair will be staged in the Georgian Mansion house, including the "Sharpe Appreciation Society", with hopefully some of the actors from the TV series.
Visitors can wander through the encampments, and pick up a souvenier from the fair. Please check out the website for more details. Advanced discount tickets are available from Bridport Tourist Information Centre, 47 South St, Bridport Tel 01308 424901.
