Saturday February 4th sees the second Spirit of Bridport Community Fair Day celebating the Spirit of Bridport at Bridport Arts centre from 10 am -2pm. As with last year’s event, townspeople young and old are invited to explore the range of community groups and activities on offer in the town.
“This year’s market is an event with a difference”, says newly appointed co-ordinator Liz Murray, fresh from events management at River Cottage. “We have a call to arms for anyone who wants to be involved in the Festival of Culture this summer, from 11th – 27th August. If you want to get involved in any way, either as a steward, part of our large organising team of volunteers or just helping to organise a specific event, please come along and sign up – let us know exactly what you do and do not want to do. We will be having a special information session for volunteers in the next few weeks, so anyone who would like to be involved please come along. We want everyone to feel they have some part in the festival.”
There will be a range of groups, performers at the daytime event plus information on a range of community activities such as Transition Town Bridport, Bridport Carnival, Bridport Local Area Partnership, Bridport Community Orchard, Blast and the Spirit Business Forum, as well as items showcasing a wide range of community groups – and producers. Spirit of Bridport warmly invites you to come along, and find out more about the summer festival and just how you can get involved.
