The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) is preparing once more to welcome members of the public to its headquarters in Poole for Open Days on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September 2009.
Everyone will be welcome to come along and see the RNLI's headquarters and The Lifeboat College, where the charity's lifeboat crews and lifeguards train. There will be exciting displays, demonstrations and tours, plus plenty of fun activities for children to take part in.
Visitors will be able to see at first hand everything the RNLI does including sea survival demonstrations, lifeboat tours and rescue demonstrations. There is the opportunity to meet lifeboat crews and lifeguards, plus displays covering all aspects of the RNLI.
The RNLI is a registered charity that relies on voluntary contributions, corporate donations and legacies for income. Since the RNLI was founded in 1824, its lifeboat crews and more recently, lifeguards, have saved over 137,000 lives.
