Home / What's On in West Dorset / Black Buoy Swim at West Bay
The famous Black Buoy Swim was resurrected last year and has proven to be immensely popular as either a participatory event or simply viewing as a spectator.
This will be the 101st year of the race, which dates back to 1907. The race is being organised by the Bridport-based Barracudas Swimming Club and the winners' cups provided by Bridport Swimming Club.
Entry is restricted to members of the two swimming clubs and local residents only. Entrance fees are £15 (over 17) and £10 (under 17) with profits divided between the Barracudas Swimming Club and the Dorset Air Ambulance. Minimum age 14. Last year saw 25 entries, and it is expected to be even more popular this year!
Kayakers are also needed to help assist with safety - please contact Mr Mortimer tel 01308 485223.
