Maiden CastleDorchester has a rich history dating back to prehistoric and Roman times. You can visit the Roman Town House or walk out to the imposing hill fort at Maiden Castle.

 


If you are more interested in Thomas HardyHardy's Cottage and the Wessex he loved, your visit would not be complete without a trip to the Dorset County Museum, Hardy's Cottage at Higher Bockhampton where he was born or Max Gate, the house Hardy designed and lived in from 1885.
