The National Cycle Network

Cycle from the county town of Dorchester through the heart of Dorset to the historic coastal town of Lyme Regis on the Devon-Dorset border, or travel north to Sherborne taking in some of Dorset's most picturesque villages.

These 5 new cycle routes are designed to provide the opportunity for cyclists to explore West Dorset's finest food and arts as well as the stunning scenery.

Whilst exploring the cycle routes of West Dorset, why not catch your breath in one of the public houses or tea rooms en route and allow yourself the opportunity to sample some of West Dorset's delicious local produce? Alternatively, you will discover plenty of ideal and idyllic spots with stunning views on your travels, providing the perfect location for a picnic. Our Tourist Information Centre staff will be more than willing to provide you with more details about the routes themselves, eateries and picnic opportunities, places to stay, and any points of interest en route.

Safe Cycling
Keep yourself safe by following this simple advice:
-Always follow the Highway Code
-Wear a cycle helmet
-Always look and signal before you start, stop or turn.
-Be visible, wear bright clothing. Use your lights in the dark or in poor daytime visibility.
-In remote areas carry drink, food, first aid kit, repair kit, map, waterproofs and a mobile phone if you have one.
....and, don't forget to lock your bike whenever you leave it unattended.
