West Dorset's picturesque countryside and peaceful villages are the star of a new film!
Tamara Drewe is an adapted screen play of a graphic novel. The film also serves as a modern take on Thomas Hardy's Far From The Madding Crowd.
Director Stephen Frears (The Queen) brings to life Posy Simmonds' comic strip serialised in The Guardian from 2005-2007, starring Gemma Arterton (St Trinians, Quantum of Solace) as glamorous newspaper columnist Tamara Drewe.
Tamara has transformed herself. A new nose, wardrobe and a glamorous job have given her confidence and a thrilling power to attract. Having left her childhood home and village as an awkward teenager, she returns as a smouldering femme fatale kicking up a storm of envy, lust and gossip wherever she goes. Love, passion and rock 'n' roll. Life in the country has never been so far from dull!
Fall for West Dorset’s charms and beauty! The historic market town of Sherborne and the tranquil villages of Yetminster, Salwayash and Holywell all make appearances in Tamara Drewe. Have your own rural getaway this summer by exploring miles of unspoilt countryside, pretty lanes and village pubs - it’s all here in West Dorset!
